Judson University was founded in 1963 by a group of professors and students from the liberal arts department of Northern Baptist Theological Seminary. The founders believed that it was best to keep the liberal arts education separate from the seminary.

Rush University is a private university that acts as the academic arm of the Rush University Medical Center. The aim or goal of the university is to provide the high quality healthcare, in addition to teaching and studying. They do this using a practitioner-teacher model that focuses on health sciences education and research. The program also places an importance on community diversity within their programs, faculty, students, and services.

The Chicago Board of Education established the Wilbur Wright College in 1934. At the time, Wilbur Wright College was one of only three city junior colleges.  Wilbur Wright College features a wide variety of programs and other areas of study.
